Before MillTown ever offered a single dryer ball, I was using the same store-bought dryer sheets I’d always used—because that’s what I grew up with. They were soft, smelled nice, and seemed harmless enough. But the more I learned about what was actually in them, the more I realized they weren’t something I wanted in my home, on my kids' clothes, or anywhere near our skin.
Dryer sheets are often loaded with synthetic fragrances, phthalates, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs)—ingredients that have been linked to hormone disruption, respiratory irritation, and skin sensitivity. On top of that, they’re single-use, non-recyclable, and ultimately end up contributing to landfill waste. That didn’t sit right with me. Especially not when my goal at MillTown has always been to create beautiful, intentional products that are both effective and safe for everyday use (and smell amazing).
